CARTER FAITH - Grudge - Capitol Records Nashville

One of the fresh faces on the mainstream circuit expected to be a part of a promising future in country music, Carter Faith has just released a new tune to the masses.  “Grudge” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Capitol Records Nashville.

Written by Faith along with Tofer Brown and Steph Jones, the sassy tune serves as a confrontation to a back-stabbing friend, someone who was thought to be trustworthy but ended up betraying you in an unforgiveable (or least, unforgettable) way.

Described as perhaps a source of therapy, this is a track that lets it all hang out and doesn’t hold back with an emotionally angry outburst of thoughts and feelings directed towards someone who broke a promise of trust and friendship.

“’Grudge’ is just a silly little song that I wrote to get some pettiness out of my system,” Faith said.  “I think we all have one or two people we can think of who pissed us off good.”

A fast, fun, up-tempo jaunt from the onset, the track ebbs and flows its way through the verses and chorus with quick, clever lyrics delivered through Carter’s powerfully-controlled, emotionally-induced vocals.

“’Cause I can’t write a song to save my life

Ain’t that what you said to Caroline

If I were a good Christian woman (like you) I’d probably forgive

But I’m pretty sure that even Jesus thinks that you’re a bitch

Someone hold my beer ‘cause I can’t hold my tongue

But I can hold one hell of a grudge”

This is head-bobbing, boot-stomping dance number from start to finish, putting a fun twist on a central theme of anger at a betraying former-friend.  It’s anthem for the scorned woman, and one that we can all relate to, directly or indirectly, and it’s also irresistibly catchy and a fun song to sing along to and with which to have fun.

Gearing up for the release of her debut album, Carter is set to join Little Big Town on tour this summer.  The shows include pavilions and amphitheaters across the country kicking off in Rogers, AR on July 24. The new dates come in addition to a recently wrapped tour with Ella Langley and Faith’s current run with Carly Pearce.

To date, Faith has accumulated over 117 million global streams on tracks that include “Wild”, “Greener Pasture” and “Already Crazy.”  She was also featured on CMT’s 2023 Next Women of Country and LISTEN UP 2024 campaigns in addition to being the first country artist featured in Spotify’s Fresh Finds multi-genre program.

In addition to the aforementioned Little Big Town, the North Carolina native has also shared the stage with the likes of Keith Urban, William Nelson, and Midland over the past couple of years, honing her craft and quickly becoming one of the brightest young stars on the country music circuit.
