CHASE MCDANIEL - Risk It All - Big Machine Records
With “Burned Down Heaven” set to make its mark this week as Chase McDaniel’s debut radio single, the singer-songwriter continues stamping his name as one to watch by simultaneously releasing “Risk It All,” building on the solid foundations of the very well-received “Heart Still Works” and “Made It This Far.”
Focused with precision on his signature sound, his unmistakable balance of moody, alternative rock influences flares his modern country aura, masking the outside trails of the emotional charges wrapped around his voice as he struggles within the battle between head and heart.
Written by McDaniel, Zach Kale, and Seth Mosley, the trembled yearning in his baritone embeds the proper tilts of his pain against the desires of his wants, clamoring for the girl who’s able to pull tightly on his heartstrings and yet still stays unavailable and so far out of his reach.
Smattering his tone with desperation, McDaniel relents how he’s unable to resist her whenever she calls for him to rush over and “save her,” remorsefully facing his own mirror when he chastises himself in the opening verse, “You think I woulda had enough.”
Placing his rapidly pumping pulse against the escalating beat of his heart, the instrumentation pulls subtly behind his voice as he slides into the chorus, allowing room for the power of his vocal to grip his last-ditch effort to resist her before melodically lifting its intensity to match his embracing of the one more last time risk:
“I know that it's dangerous to walk this line
You love me like you love me but you still ain't mine
Don't know if I'ma make it out alive this time
But tonight, I'm gonna risk it all
Go ahead pick up your call
Leave a trail of your clothes laying down the hall
Shake a few walls
No, it ain't right but damn
Tonight, I wanna risk it all”
“I’ve heard it said that in a room of people ready and willing to love us, we always pick the one who isn’t sure,” shares McDaniel. “‘Risk It All’ is about trying to earn that person’s love one more time, in the only way you know how.”
Chase McDaniel has taken his second chance back story and transparently turned the pages of his diary through song, inviting the listener to know who he is heart and soul while quickly becoming a beacon of light and hope for many, never shying away from connectible, real-life emotions of heartbreak, anxiety, and pain. “Risk It All” aptly carries all these distinctive characteristics, adding another intriguing layer to his arsenal as he amps for next level success.
