BRETT YOUNG - Drink With You - Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment

Since the release of his self-titled debut record in 2017, Brett Young has imbedded himself in the hearts and minds of country music fans, with his unique blend of west coast-influenced southern melodies and beautifully harmonious vocals about life and love, and everything in between.  The diamond-selling and ACM Award-winning star is back with a new tune, further building anticipation for his forthcoming fourth studio album in the coming months.  “Drink With You” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment.

Officially impacting radio today (4/14), the tune touches on an all-too familiar theme for many of us – struggling to move on from a past relationship while occasionally regressing into old, regrettable behaviors influenced by substance-induced circumstances.

“’Drink With You’ is a song about exes that can’t seem to make good decisions when they get together and there is alcohol involved,” Young said.  “It’s a story as old as time about how it’s sometimes easy to fall back into hold habits rather than move on.”

Headlined by a smooth melody and catchy mid-tempo rhythms alongside Young’s trademark vocal delivery, this song sways through the verses and chorus delightfully with quick, clever lyrics and sentimentally memorable sounds and professions.  This is a trademark Brett Young tune to its core from start to finish, one that will resonate with fans, new and old, from the very first listen.

“Girl, I know the way this goes down

You slide on closer after every round

Won’t be long before the truth comes out

We get to buzzin’, our lips get to touchin’

With the whiskey and the way you tease

You’ll wind up wakin’ up next to me

And if that ain’t somethin’ you wanna do

I just can’t drink with you”

As we have come to know, love and expect from his music, Brett’s latest tune focuses on the questions, doubts and possible regrets that go through our minds following the end of a relationship.  True, honest, and down to earth, “Drink With You” is a thought-provoking song for all listeners, for those who have endured a breakup in the past, who are going through it now, or may be in the future.

When we go through a trial or tribulation, or experience any form of grief or heartache, it can be difficult for us to process those feelings, and we all cope with those emotions in different ways.  The lyrics of this song paint a picture of how he attempts to get over a past relationship, but it is all for not, as in the end, feelings of doubt and possible regret return to the forefront of his mind.  And the result is a trip to a familiar territory that he knows ends in grief and regret.  Young has always been a master of expressing emotional turbulence throughout different stages of a relationship, and he once again has captured the essence to perfection here with the impact of a breakup’s aftermath.

Serving as his second release of the year thus far, “Drink With You” marks the newest tune from his upcoming fourth studio album, ‘2.0’, set to drop on Friday June 13th via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment.  To accompany the release of his new record, Young currently has dates scheduled from now through the end of the year across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
