TIM MCGRAW FT PARKER MCCOLLUM - Paper Umbrellas - Big Machine Records

Country music superstar Tim McGraw has released his latest single, providing a fresh take on a fan-favorite from the past along with a very special guest.  “Paper Umbrellas”, featuring Parker McCollum, is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Big Machine Records.

Originally a part of McGraw’s 2023 album, ‘Standing Room Only’, “Paper Umbrellas” quickly become a standout track for fans.  Written by Monty Criswell and Drake Milligan and produced by McGraw along with Byron Gallimore and Eric Masse, the tune offers a twist on a country drinking song with creative, cleverly-crafted lyrics.

“It’s gonna take a lot of Pina Coladas

If you’re gonna drink him off your mind

I’ll sit here a little longer and get us something stronger

Something that’ll work in half the time

‘Cause when love don’t shine like you thought it would

Ain’t nothing quite like good tequila straight

To chase the clouds away

Yeah, girl, I’m here to tell ya paper umbrellas

Look good on top but they won’t stop the rain”

The addition of McCollum has certainly breathed new life into the tune, as the two country stars’ vocals blend effortlessly as they trade harmonies that flow beautifully along the gentle, mid-tempo melodic music arrangement.  The elements that made this song stand out for most fans upon the first listen are still present here, offering a bit of a throw-back vibe to the slightly more traditional country influence.

McGraw and McCollum seem perfectly “at-home” trading leads and harmonies throughout offering a collaboration that we would love to see again in the near future.  As has been the case (and the expectation at this point) for McGraw’s music over the years, this song is a perfect blend of his classic country sound with touches of modern elements, collectively lending itself to fans of all styles and generations.

In a brutally competitive industry, McGraw has been a mainstay as one of the most notable stars in music history over the past three decades.  He has tallied an incredible 68 Top 10 hits while holding the Mediabase record for most weeks at No. 1 with all titles (73 weeks) and trails only George Strait for most No. 1 albums in the United States.

Tim, whose “Standing Room Only” tour was wildly successful, has several dates and appearances scheduled throughout the year, while Parker is currently on the road headlining his “What Kinda Man Tour” across the U.S.
