COREY KENT - Girl I Never Met - RCA Records Nashville

Last year was a career-changer for Corey Kent, who embarked on his first-ever UK tour with Ashley McBryde as well as hitting the road with Parker McCollum on a nationwide run across the US.  Now, the fast-rising singer-songwriter has released his first track of 2025.  “Girl I Never Met” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via RCA Records Nashville.

Written by Kent along with Casey Brown, Jordan Minton, and Travis Wood, the tune tells the tale of a heartbreak so painful that he would rather have never met his ex at all.

“It sounds like rock n roll.  It feels like country heartbreak,” Kent said.  “It’s not the one that got away…this is about wishing you never met ‘em in the first place.”

With momentum behind his music and artistry at an all-time high, the Oklahoma native / Texas based singer/songwriter is garnering a lot of attention with any new release, but this latest tune seems poised to set anticipation to new heights.

The honesty, sincerity, and vulnerability pronounced throughout this track are what will resonate long after the first listen.  Corey’s vocals are perfectly on point, accurately reflecting the emotional heartbreak that accompanies the end of a meaningful relationship.

This is an emotionally-heavy track, incorporating redolent lyrics and cleverly-crafted imagery to offer a unique reflection on an aching heart’s impact on one’s thoughts and feelings.

“You wouldn’t be runnin’ wild up in my head

Wearin’ nothin’ but the sunrise in my bed

I wouldn’t be losin’ sleep replayin’ them

Chevy Tahoe taillights burnin’ red

This whiskey wish I would of won’t cut it

It is what it is, but

Man, what I wouldn’t give to turn the girl I can’t forget

Into a girl I never met”

This is the first taste of new music from Kent since “Now Or Never” featuring Lauren Alaina, released in the summer of 2024.  “Girl I Never Met” also follows the likes of “Never Ready”, “Rust”, and “This Heart”.

This is a shrinking list of people as the days, weeks and months continue, but there are those who are still learning about Corey Kent.  He first introduced himself to the mainstream country music world with the release of “Wild As Her”, which has tallied over 184 million on-demand streams to date and has been certified RIAA Gold.  The song also served as his first on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 15 on the Hot Country Songs chart and is currently spinning and impacting successfully at country radio.

In addition to releasing a new single, Corey is on the road headlining his 25-date “Black Bandana Tour” before joining Jon Pardi as an opener on the “HonkyTonk Hollywood Tour” in April as well as on select dates of Morgan Wallen’s “I’m The Problem Tour” this summer.
