SCOTTY HASTING - Pro Beer - Black River Entertainment

Though he’s unashamedly tackled mental health and PTSD subjects that have connected the transparency of his veteran heart with those who have served (“How Do You Choose”), Scotty Hasting also hasn’t been afraid of highlighting a feel-good atmosphere within the definitions of small-town life.

Both the ultra-catchy “Whiskey in the Bottle” and the gritty rock anthem “Town Like Mine” have established the edgier layers of who he is as an artist, and he continues embracing the up-tempo side of life by toasting a red Solo cup to the “Big Dog Daddy” on his newest release, “Pro Beer.”

Written by Jimi Belle, Josh Jenkins, and Bryan Simpson, the melodic simplicity of the down-home instrumental glide emphasizes the laid-back essence of the lyrics as Hasting moves us from a confessional admission of his own flaws into his moment of clarity, hoisting his eureka revelation on the back of “one simple campaign slogan!”

Engaging the listener with a call to action that entices raising one up, soaking in the healing power of a cold one, and enjoying back porch moments surrounded by good friends and good times, the chorus instantly garners attention with its addictive Friday night aura.

“I’m pro beer

Pro raising ‘em up

Pro popping a top

Instead of popping off about God knows what

Yeah, the only agenda I’m pushing

Is chillin’ on a back porch cushion

A six pack in with a couple of friends

Who take me as I am

Yeah, they know where I keg stand

I’m pro beer”

Though the song in and of itself is intended to be light-hearted on its surface, the bridge delivers a deeper meaning to the underlying message; using the idea of a beer - one of any variety or type - as more than just a beverage that helps us unwind at the end of a long day but as a centerpiece for bringing us together under commonality without any division.

As Scotty Hasting continues to turn the pages that define who he is and where he’s going with his music in this next chapter, signature characteristics consistently uphold his values as a military veteran, proud American, and as an artist and songwriter. From song-to-song he flows an intriguing dynamic that fuses thought-provoking ideals with his red, white, and blue heart, brushing an honesty that radiates with the core of country music’s most devoted listeners.
