Since bursting onto the scene with “Villain” in late 2020, groundbreaking artist Lily Rose has continuously made her mark on the music world by fluidly blending styles and finding her own unique path that pushes pop laden elements into modern country vibes.

“Overnight Sensation” helped her make tremendous strides, as it virtually shared her personal journey with us in a 4-minute package, while “Remind Me Of You” and “Know My Way Around” both earned her buzzworthy status and have made her a new artist to watch.

She continues upholding the buzz status with her latest release “I Don’t Smoke.”

The song, written by Lalo Guzman, Michael Tyler, and Daniel Breland, leans deeper into that pop groove that she’s been exploring over her past couple of releases, while utilizing her incredible vocals to deliver a lyric that perfectly punches home the anxiety one feels when they’re watching their relationship slipping away.

Knowing her 20-something core demographic, Rose uses the opening line “I’ve been creeping on your IG” to instantly reach them as she unravels the clues that the Instagram page has given her that tells her something is wrong: “I can’t even find me, you done cut me out the pictures.”

These opening lines are perfectly designed to shift into the conflicted anxiety that follows throughout most of the song as Rose sings about wondering if there’s someone else, noticing that her better half is acting differently, and accepting that she told her that she needed space.

The twist in the song, however, comes in the chorus where Rose reveals that as much is she’s making it look like she’s doing alright and convincing herself that it wasn’t love, that is far from the truth and her trying to do so would be like saying: “I don’t smoke when I drink,” “I don’t know anything when my momma asks ‘bout where you’ve been at,” etc.

With each song she releases, including “I Don’t Smoke,” Lily Rose elevates her game and further hits her stride in developing her own sound, while still retaining all the elements that are becoming her signature feels. When you combine great song after great song with her ever-growing fanbase, it’s easy to guess that Lily Rose is going to quickly rise from her status as one to watch and turn it into “she has arrived!”
