BELLES - Trust Issues - Deluge Records

Having wrapped her successful ‘Trust Issues Tour’ last week (December 4, 2024), country starlet Belles now caps off what has been a monumental year with the official release of the tour’s namesake, the irresistible fan favorite “Trust Issues.”

After a string of toxic relationships that’s left her with an off-centered version of what love is supposed to look like, “Trust Issues” intriguingly sees Belles guarding her heart amid a current, healthy relationship, questioning how someone could be so perfect while cautiously navigating the trenches of insecurity to try and discover what might be wrong with him.

With an addictively catchy sway to its melody that keeps the listener mid-tempo grooving along with it, the song written by Kelli Belles, Nell Maynard, and Cassidy Best leans its opening verse into a descriptive checklist of how seemingly perfect he is, tallying how he always texts back, picks up the tab, and thinks before he acts.

Though carrying issues of the past into a new and healthy relationship is a very common theme amongst female artists right now, Belles swerves the predictable blame to instead place the lens of hesitancy on herself - “It’s not you it’s me” – cleverly using a play on words as she rolls through the chorus while pleading for him to show her something that’s wrong with him.

“Cause I only trust issues

And you don’t really got em

And that’s kind of a problem

Cause I can’t fix you

And isn’t that what love is

Just look at all my ex’s

Open up, show me something wrong with you

Cause I only trust issues”

Cautiously probing her hunt to find that something wrong, she confesses that he’s too good to be true (a real-life Mr. Perfect) while pondering if he’ll promise forever and then change his mind, wake up one day and be someone completely different, etc.

With the success of her recent tour combining with several hot singles this year that have provided a showcase of who she is – “What In The Truck,” “Guy next Door,” “Drive Home,” “I Hate Trucks,” and now “Trust Issues” - Belles has quickly become an independent riser who is consistently turning heads with snapshots of her writing craftiness, vocal prowess, and transparent relatability.

As she leaves her final mark on her “Trust Issues” era, Belles is keeping her eyes locked forward with the recent announcement of the ‘behind the guitar acoustic tour’ in early 2025 and the promise of more new music, expertly shining the spotlight brightly on her as she readies to step into her next.
