CHASE MATTHEW - Dancing In The Rain - Warner Music Nashville

With what is undoubtably going to be one of 2025’s most highly anticipated albums (due in February), hot rising star Chase Matthew has utilized the second half of this year to lay strong foundations for things still to come with the very well-received “Backroads Of My Mind” and “Missin’ Me Missin’ You.”

Continually stretching the boundaries of his signature sound, fusing elements of modern country into a blended essence of pop and hip-hop vibes, Matthew now adds a solid exclamation point to a breakout year.

“Dancing In The Rain” is available on all streaming and digital platforms via Warner Music Nashville.

Holding the lines of his distinctive characteristics, the ballad written by Graham Barham, Cole Miracle, Beau Bailey, and Gabe Foust leans ultra-modern beats into a moodiness that sits within the slow build of the instrumental match to the lyrics as Matthew trails a yearning embedded in the wanting to know whether the relationship is up or down, conflicted in the addictiveness of the hot and cold while standing by her side either way.

He laments in the opening verse on how some nights everything can come up sunshine and good times while others turn quickly destructive and lead to what he describes poetically as “thunder” and coming on “lightning fast without a warning.”

Admitting then in the second verse of their toxic yet alluring personalities, comparing them respectively to Jekyll and Hyde, not only highlights a maturity in taking some of the blame onto himself but also acts as the perfect enhancer to the heart-ached questions he’s seeking clarification on in the chorus.

“Are we crying in the storm or dancing in the rain?

Going up in smoke or sparking up a flame

Is it all going to hell or heaven for a change?

Are we making love or making a mistake?

So tell me what’s it gonna be tonight?

Where we wind up in the sheets or a crazy fight

Girl, I’m gonna want it either way

Whether we’re crying in the storm

Or dancing in the rain”

With a following of countless millions that’s growing stronger with each next release, Chase Matthew is proving to be the clear definition of an artist who knows exactly who they are and where their comfort zone lies, but one who is also willing to risk a challenge within a bold expansion of his sound.

However, within the parameters of who he is and what he does, the connection factor that arises both lyrically and emotionally from song to song provides the attractive depth that keeps his fans always clamoring for more. With this one last stamp on 2024, he holds his fans over as they gear up for what will be a monumental start to the new year for one of the genre’s most promising young stars.
