TYLER RICH - Home We Choose - ONErpm

With what felt like a reinvigorated pursuit toward solidifying his place in the current landscape of country music, Tyler Rich drove into his independent chapter with the warmly received “All The Small Things,” focusing on the memories that matter most with a nostalgic bent that was one part reminiscing and one part living in this moment.

Likewise, “Home We Choose” paints with a very similar brush, encompassing the idea of finding your sense of belonging in the place that you call home.

"'Home We Choose' is about finding a place in the world that feels right to you, whether it's where you grew up or somewhere entirely new," said Rich. "It's a reminder that home is more about the choices we make, the people we surround ourselves with, and the memories we build along the way. It's never too late to start over, and it's never too soon to settle down."

The song, co-written by Rich, Emily Falvey, and Lalo Guzman, pulls inspiration from Tyler’s own cross-country move from California to Tennessee, using the traditional style of country storytelling to hold a strong connection factor to the dreamer envisioning the life of their years with a forward vision on tomorrow.

Singing first of an 18-year-old packing up her guitar case full of dreams for a big move to Tennessee, he then segues different scenarios in each of the verses to masterfully strike the heart chord of anyone’s unique story; travelling with the college graduate who took his degree to a big city office, a hometown born and raised type who stays put on the roots they’ve sewn, etc.

Navigating the twists and turns of life with the utmost delicacy, he lands on the understanding prose of the chorus, reaching through the speakers to connect heart-to-heart while providing a knowing shoulder to lean on through the commonality of us all.

“We're all lookin for some somewhere to be found

A steady place where we can plant our roots

We're all lost until we find some solid ground

A front porch step where we can set our boots

Whether it's states away, two doors down

A place that's old or new

We all got a hometown, and the home we choose

We all got a hometown, and the home we choose”

With a rise of encouragement in the bridge through the proclamation that “We're all where we're supposed to be, right here where we're at,” Tyler Rich caps off his 2024 with a shot of inspiration to carry into the new year, leading the steps to his forthcoming sophomore album with another snapshot of his personal  journey to the here and now.
