GREYLAN JAMES FT. COLE SWINDELL - Things That I Can't Change - Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment

ACM Award-winning songwriter and emerging artist Greylan James continues to take his career to new levels with the release of a new tune, a thought-provoking and emotionally-inducing effort that features one of the biggest names in country music.  “Things That I Can’t Change” featuring Cole Swindell is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment.

Written by James along with Jared Mullins, Rocky Block and Brock Berryhill, the nostalgic track tells the tale of reflection on the past and honing up to mistakes while acknowledging that, while we can’t take back past decisions we have made, we can use them to teach ourselves lessons in an effort to become a better person going forward.  Touching on some relatable moments and down-to-earth circumstances, the song ebbs and flows beautiful, throwing a sentimental, mid-tempo vibe from start to finish.

“This song really makes me think about the things people do and the parts of their life that they aren’t insanely proud of,” Greylan said.  “But we can take the lessons learned from those moments to grow from it and also accept that people can change from the other side of it.  It’s alright to let the things that you can’t change, change you.”

During a career-altering 2023, James was a special guest with Cole Swindell on his TWELVE TOUR, and flash forward to late 2024, and Swindell is featured on what-might-be Greylan’s most impressive tune to date.

“I’ve been a big Greylan James fan since the first time we wrote together a few years back,” Swindell said.  “I was honored when he asked me to sing on ‘Things That I Can’t Change’ because it’s such a GREAT song and message that I think a lot of folks, like myself, can relate to.  I’m excited to see where it takes him and thankful he and his team asked me to be part of it.”

“Things That I Can’t Change” serves as James’ third standalone track release this year, following previous releases “Who Broke Up With You” and “Man Up.”

Ever since his appearance on NBC’s “The Voice” in 2013, singer-songwriter Greylan James has established himself as a gifted young talent on the country music scene.  Having penned tunes for some of the biggest names in the genre, he garnered and earned the reputation as a gifted songwriter from the onset of his career; but his emergence and respect as a singer and recording artist continues with each new release.

Earlier this year, James earned his first ever ACM Award for Song Of The Year, co-writing Jordan Davis’ No.1 hit “Next Thing You Know,” which also landed James a 2023 CMA Award nomination for the same category.  James has earned cuts from some of Country music’s biggest stars including Kenny Chesney, Chris Young, Cole Swindell, Darius Rucker, Chris Janson, Bailey Zimmerman, BRELAND and more.
