KAYLEY GREEN - Catching Up - Sony Music Nashville
Florence, SC native Kayley Green has a Nashville story made for fairy tales. Holding a weekend slot at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Broadway, the talented songstress was discovered by Keith Urban, who invited her to join him at his recent Bridgestone Arena show. The rest is history, as she is now a fresh young face on the list of promising up-and-coming country singer-songwriters.
In a year that has seen her sign to her first major record label and release her first two singles, Green is back with a new tune that may just be her best yet. “Catching Up” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Sony Music Nashville.
“This song is about the experience of being unhappy in a relationship but the person you’re dating doesn’t realize that until things are too far gone,” Green said. “I always want to write songs that people can relate to, and I think a lot of people have probably gone through something like this.”
Written by Kayley along with Emma-Lee and Karen Kosowski, “Catching Up” tells the tale of walking away from a complicated relationship, exploring the conflicting emotions one feels while ending a situation that is beyond repair. It’s real, relatable, and vulnerably honest, and is a notion that will resonate with fans immediately upon the first listen and reverberate beyond.
Featuring Green’s rich vocals and passionate delivery, the song is a stripped-down, slow-tempo diary entry from songwriter to listener, as Kayley opens her mind and heart to us as she eloquently and honestly reflects on her past and what she thought and how she felt as she moved on and turned the page to her next chapter.
This is a sensible account of a situation that has touched us all in one way or another, and the relatable truth of this song takes the emotional impact to another level. Taking the spotlight, though, is unquestionably Green’s vocal prowess, articulately showcasing her power, control and bravado with a delivery that puts this song over the top.
Slated as the third release of her major label career, “Catching Up” follows “Shadow Of A Cowboy” as well as her debut single, “Live Fast Die Pretty”, which was released in May.
In a day and age when it seems like a fictional fairytale for an aspiring artist to move to Nashville and be discovered playing the honkytonks on Broadway and sign to a label soon thereafter, that has been the reality for Kayley Green. Having released her debut single in May and subsequent releases in August and October, this gifted singer and intuitive songwriter continues to emerge as one of the fresh young faces in country music.
