CODY JOHNSON & CARRIE UNDERWOOD - I'm Gonna Love You - CoJo Music/Warner Music Nashville

In one of the more anticipated duet releases in recent memory, Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood have unveiled a new song that promises to capture the attention of fans, critics, radio, and the music industry has a whole.  “I’m Gonna Love You” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Warner Music Nashville.

Written by Chris Stevens, Kelly Archer, and Travis Denning, the song is the first single off Cody’s forthcoming album, expected out later this fall.  But the song also serves as a much-anticipated star-studded collaboration by two of the genre’s most notable stars and vocal performers.  For Cody, the first time he heard the song, he knew the direction it needed to take.

“From the moment I heard this song, I heard Carrie’s voice on it.  It was a non-negotiable for me; either we sing it together, or I wouldn’t sing it at all,” Johnson said.  “Working with Carrie has been an absolute pleasure.  She’s no only one hell of a singer, but she’s a class act all the way around.  It warms my heart to work with someone who’s seen so much success in their career and they’re still so down to earth.  I feel like this duet is going to be massive in so many ways, and I couldn’t be more-proud of it!”

Johnson and Underwood are incredible on this track, beautifully complimenting one another with flawless harmonies as they sway through the love-struck lyrics that are strong enough to last through the test of time.  Seemingly-effortless vocal ebbs and flows highlight the track, showcasing both singers’ deliveries eloquently and inventively throughout while maintaining focus on the lyrical artistry from start to finish.

“Time’s gonna put a few lines on our face

We can cover it up, but hair’s gonna gray

Life’s gonna fly and be gone too soon

And I’m gonna love you”

Highlighted by short, simplistically down-to-earth lyrics, this is a sure-fire hit with fans of all ages, new and old to the country music genre, and well as those devout followers of both Johnson and Underwood independently.

“I’m Gonna Love You” is a follow-up to Johnson’s most recent chart-topping single, “Dirt Cheap”, which amassed an astonishing 220 million global streams.  First meeting backstage at the 2022 CMT Music Awards, Cody and Carrie sparked a friendship that ultimately resulted in this new release.  With a no-doubt hit expected with one of the most accomplished artists in this generation of country music, Johnson is poised to take his Platinum-selling and five-time 2024 CMA Awards nominated-career to the next level with the forthcoming announcement of his new album in the coming weeks.
