PARKER MCCOLLUM - What Kinda Man - MCA Records Nashville

Serving as one of the foundation artists for the new wave of country music artists over the past few years, Parker McCollum is delighting fans with the release of a brand-new track, one that offers yet another dimension to his ever-growing music catalogue.  “What Kinda Man” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via MCA Record Nashville.

Written by McCollum along with Natalie Hemby and Jeremy Spillman, the new track serves as a venture into new territory for country star, one that will entice fans from across the country music spectrum.  With a distorted, fading guitar intro, the vibe edges between arena rock and throwback country with elements of Texas-style interludes throughout the mid-tempo track.

“Yeah, I’ve been running so damn long

There ain’t a woman who could settle me down

Wilder than a bat out of hell

Off the rails and blazin’ through town

But then you walk in floatin’ on air

And you look across the room at me

Forget the man I am, what kinda man do you need?”

The intertwining of acoustic and electric guitars introduces the listener to the melody, joining forces with an infectiously catchy bass and drum-induced boot-stomp that resonates throughout the track.  It’s a fun, catchy, and a diversely unique listening experience from start to finish, and obliges as a deviation from past releases while expanding the range of his already-established-and-renowned musical repertoire.

“Could not be more excited to share this new music with the world, especially this new single, ‘What Kinda Man,’” McCollum said.  “Lately, I’ve been coming back to this sound and the roots of where I started out.  I think this new song is my way of revisiting that and creating something that feels like home to me and my fans.  I hope the world loves it.”

Lyrically, this is a down-to-earth, relatable vocal proclamation to which we can all appreciate.  Vocally, once again, Parker is in his own league, ahead of the class of budding country music stars of his generation.  Marking a new chapter in his wildly successful (albeit young) career, “What Kinda Man” is poised to become a fan favorite in the coming days, weeks, and months.

McCollum is currently nominated for Song Of The Year at the upcoming CMA Awards for his Platinum-certified No. 1 single “Burn It Down”, which he co-wrote along with Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose.  The tune serves as the fourth consecutive chart-topping release for Parker, following “Pretty Heart”, “To Be Loved By You,” and “Handle On You”.
