HAILEY BENEDICT - Things My Mama Says - Big Loud Records/Local Hay

Hailey Benedict has been escalating her career as one of the fast-rising your starlets in country music over the past couple of years, and she is poised to continue that trend as she is releasing a brand-new single, one that offers a sentimentally-personal side to the talented songstress.  “Things My Mama Says” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Local Hay Records / Big Loud Records.

Written by Benedict alongside Clara Park and Ava Suppelsa, the tune is her debut single via Big Loud Records and its Dallas Smith-founded imprint Local Hay Records.

The song finds Benedict in a time of fluctuating emotion that includes excitement, concern, and tension.  The touching new single is an anecdote of personal reflection that originated from a place in Hailey’s own life.

“The day I signed my record deal was the same day I found out about my mom’s cancer diagnosis.  I immediately felt like I should put my career on pause,” Hailey shared.  “My mom has always been one of my biggest supporters, and despite her diagnosis, she urged me to keep pursuing my dreams.  ‘Things My Mama Says’ illustrates the irony of how our mothers spend their lives worrying about us, and then one day, the roles reverse.”

Beginning as a place of origin for therapy and coping, the track quickly took on a life of itself, and despite slight reservations of releasing something so personal, Hailey is sharing it with the world.  The result is an irresistibly-relatable track that invites the listener into the heart and mind of the narrator, ebbing and flowing its way through an array of thoughts and emotions from start to finish.

The lyrics are down-to-earth, forthcoming and honest, while the swaying, mid-tempo melody is ear-pleasing to the listener while always maintaining focus on lyrical significance of the subject matter.

Serving as her first release since announcing her worldwide recording and publishing deals with Big Loud / Local Hay last month, “Things My Mama Says” is a representation of the undeniable talent including the singing and songwriting ability of the 2023 CCMA Award winner.
