DRAKE WHITE - Faith - Reverend White LLC.

In this most recent point of his career, Drake White has taken a perfect blending of all his distinctive signatures and wrapped them into lyrics that have not only provided thought-provoking encouragement but have become the friendly shoulder to lean on for the wounded and shattered hearts, a soft place of comfort to land.

Following the fairly recent release of the incredible “Ladder In The Sky,” and coinciding with the announcement that his new album Low Country High Road will be out September 20th, Drake now delivers his latest offering, “Faith.”

Co-written by White and hitmaking songwriter/producer Jonathan Singleton, the song drenches itself in a Gospel choir through its intro, setting the retrospective tone as the instrumentation is anchored in the simplicity of a moody organ that instantly transports you back to the wooden pew of your childhood church.

Leaning into the natural essence of his blues driven soulfulness, White poetically injects a heartfelt honesty into the passionate telling of his unsuccessful efforts to cure hardships on his own accord, listing that he’s tried wishing on stars, running away like a river, taking a midnight drive down a darkened highway, etc.

However, discovering hope within the true comfort that can only come from God, he lands emphasis on the still, small whisper of His unconditional, never-failing healing as he slides into the chorus on the words written in red:

“Have faith in me

Whatever will be will be

When the hard times get hard

And the nights get too dark

All you gotta do is have a little faith in me”

Holding tightly to this newfound freedom, the second verse inspiringly sets in motion the idea of not allowing the non-understanding voices of the world to set your anxiety on its edge, but in those moments to lean that much further into the voice that never fails.

In a crescendo moment that exudes pure redemption, his fully embraced breakthrough audibly hits through the lift into the final chorus. “Now listen here!” he instructs as he amps his voice into a fiery calm that preacher-like delivers the boldly driven message to keep an unbridled faith in the only one who can calm the raging seas whenever they inevitably arrive.
