JELLY ROLL - Liar - Stoney Creek Records/Republic Records
As rumors continue to swirl and excitement builds for the impending announcement of a new album release, award-winning multi-genre star Jelly Roll has unveiled a brand-new track to the delight of his droves of fans across the country. After debuting the song at the 2024 ACM Awards, as well as on The Voice and Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jelly has formally released “Liar”, which is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via BBR.
Written by Jelly along with Ben Johnson, Ashley Gorley and Taylor Phillips, the steadfast tune cryptically and angrily denounces those who have emotionally mistreated him, confronting the haters with a strong rebuttable and conviction. The resolute anthem is expressively empowering, as the poetically vulnerable lyrics are conveyed emotively perfectly through Jelly’s trademark raspy yet powerful vocals.
“I can hear you in my head
In my bed when I’m dreamin’
You try to be my friend you’re blowin’ smoke
Oh and now I ain’t scared of tellin’ you where you can go
‘Cause I know
You’re nothin’ but a liar”
What has connected millions of fans across the country and beyond with Jelly Roll’s music is his imperfect past and ability to communicate his experiences, his trials and tribulations, while also shining a light of hope for the future. The rocker-turned-country crooner has become one of the most notable stars in mainstream country music with his autobiographical tales of his life – past, present, and future – and unapologetic approach and honest reflect of where he is now and how he got here.
The honesty, vulnerability, and strength through internal vs. external struggles exonerated in this song, and all his songs, is what is so captivating. This is the latest chapter in the music catalogue from a man who was once at the depths of defeat and is now surging with success and popularity, continuing to powerfully impact fans with meaningful tunes long after their first listen.
Serving as a follow-up to his current Top 20 single, “I Am Not Okay”, “Liar” is the newest track from his highly-anticipated forthcoming record due later this year. The Nashville native’s debut country album, ‘Whitsitt Chapel’, was released in June 2023, skyrocketing Jelly from a new face to a household name seemingly overnight.
The release of “Liar” comes as Jelly Roll is set to kick off his The Beautifully Broken Tour on August 27th. The nationwide trek will feature Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay, currently slated to run through the end of October at arenas from coast to coast.
