BELLA HUDSON - Cartier Cowgirl - OneRPM
Coming off the Sunday morning gossiped “Love Thy neighbor,” country starlet Bella Hudson now returns with her latest offering, “Cartier Cowgirl.”
Having layered her catalog with a precise balance of her wittiness on songs such as “Goodwill Hunting” and a heart-tugged essence on songs such as “Cold In Colorado,” Hudson shifts away from her normal signature flare to swerve any predictability, shining a bright spotlight on her incredible songwriting as she leaps across genre lines to dip her toes into the waters of a new sonic territory.
Written by Hudson and Nash Overstreet, the song fully embraces individuality and highlights uniqueness through its high-end definitions of confidence and smirk-laden sass.
Utilizing a ranch induced instrumentation that’s shined up with bling through the drip of the intro, Hudson instantly sets the overall tone of western cowgirl meets city chic, opening the song with a descriptive of who she is when she immediately states on the opening line, “I ain’t ever looking cheap, studded pearl snap sleeves.”
Not only using the opening verse to paint pictures of her outward appearance but to also snapshot her inner being, she flirtatiously sings of how she’ll “Get you head over boots the second I come around” while leading to the chorus with shrugged shoulders and a wink wink, “I’m extra and I own it, a rare breed and you know it.”
Wrapping then the aura of the chorus with insatiable, pop laden backbeats that immediately have you dancing underneath the strobe lights of a cityscaped nightclub rather than across a sawdust covered honky-tonk hardwood, she lifts her voice into the lyrical strike:
“I’m a cartier cowgirl, won’t dress it down girl
Got your ranch around my neck
And diamonds on my gold spurs
Cartier cowgirl, buy all the rounds girl
Guys are in line going blind from the shine of
A cartier cowgirl”
Carrying that same unapologetic coolness to her tone throughout the second half of the song, Hudson proudly stamps pure empowerment into the fact that she’s an independent woman, who that while she wears bling on the outside, is still completely understanding that her country roots run deep within her soul.
Uncovering a very unexpected layer of her arsenal that is both intriguing and risky at the same time, Bella Hudson turns the pages into her next chapter with ultra-modern vibes, danceable beats, and a fist bump of appreciation for oneself.
