PHIL VASSAR & JEFFREY STEELE - Like A Man's Supposed To - 3 Ring Circus

There is something special that happens when two gifted, celebrated songwriters join forces on a project that also showcases their abilities as singers and performers.  Phil Vassar and Jeffrey Steele have released their latest collaborative effort, one that infuses elements of each hitmaker’s catalogue of chart-toppers while offering a genre-bending twist of ingenuity.  “Like A Man’s Supposed To” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via 3 Ring Circus.

Simply put, this is a fun, upbeat, sing-along toe-tapper from start to finish.  Headlined by a rhythmic melody drenched in saxophone and classic rock droves, the tune effortlessly lends itself to the strengths of its two songwriters.

“I absolutely love this fun, upbeat, saxophone-infused song,” Vassar said.  “It has a Huey Lewis vibe to it, which is amazing as he is a great friend and hero of mine”.

Steele and Vassar have a musical comradery that is undeniably prevalent throughout this track.  As gifted as they are as songwriters, these two are talented singers and entertainers, and the energy felt from the onset through the conclusion is a result of an organic origin of a songwriting session.

“’Like A Man’s Supposed To’ was just that thing that happens when two players start talking about grooves and old songs,” Steele said.  “When Phil hit those first chords, we were off – it’s the quintessential ‘I broke your heart a million times, but this is the last chance I will ever need’ song”.

Musically, this is a head-bobbing, toe-tapping good time, while lyrically, it’s quick and clever, imbedding itself in the mind of the listener the first-time through.

“I’m gonna love you

Like a man’s supposed to

I will, I will

Baby, from this very moment, girl

I’m gonna treat you

Like a woman needs to

Be treated, I mean it

What was I thinking leaving?”

A breath of fresh air and inimitability in a world of country music that can sometimes be dominated by parody, “Like A Man’s Supposed To Do” serves as a follow up to the duo’s previous collaborative effort, “Hillbillies in Hollywood.”

Both Vassar and Steele have select dates scheduled across the country in the summer and into the fall.  Gifted songwriters and pure entertainers to their core, both continue to add to their respective music catalogues that have been spanned years and countless hits with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
