PRESLEY TENNANT -Bad Decisions - Independent Release
When she released her recent single “Somebody Like You” earlier this year, hot rising talent Presley Tennant opened the next chapter of her career by offering a glimpse of her new era sound, which interestingly hit on a throwback vibe that recalled the ultra-dynamic, 2010’s era of country music.
She now continues to delve into this next chapter with “Bad Decisions.”
“Being from Southern California, I knew I wanted a beachy song,” states the Norco, California (aka Horsetown, USA) native. “When I was cutting songs, the guys that played on it were like this is the time Presley, you gotta lean into it. So, we cut it like this, and I feel like it captures the feeling of a fun summer night out with friends. You may make some bad decisions and you say you’ll never do it again…but till next time.”
Floating a carefree breeze within the melody, Tennant dances her impressive vocal across the top of the rhythmic flow, enticing the listener to sway along while allowing proper space for the insatiable summer vibed track to embody her sunshiny spirit within its sandy beached reggae essence.
“Hell of a week, glad it’s gone,” she sings on the opening line of the song, injecting an immediate Friday night perspective that paints a picture of suntanning in the neon lights, breaking some rules and crossing some lines all while melodically walking a So Cal flavor into a perfect sonic balance of Presley’s competing personality traits.
Raising a spirited toast to an unforgettable start of a much-needed weekend, a girl’s night out of letting loose and having good times on Nashville’s most famous street, she ignites the anthem-induced chorus:
“Get us some of that neon burning on Broadway
Take it all the way to closing time
And we’ll keep on burning it at my place
We ain’t sleeping til we see that sunrise
We’re on a mission to get what we’re missing
Don’t need permission to lost inhibitions
So drink up
Here’s to a good night of bad decisions”
“It ain’t new year’s, nobody’s birthday, but we don’t need a reason to celebrate,” she sings in the second verse, boldly reminding the listener to grab life by its horns and walk a little bit out on the edge, giving strong definition to the idea of what it means to really be alive and living life to its fullest.
With each page turned into her new era, Presley Tennant continues to deliver the unexpected and the unpredictable. While a blast of summertime in country music isn’t necessarily anything new, the unique movements she presents stylistically that separate her from the pack allows her to dip her toes into the warm-weather waters and add an entirely new layer to her already intriguing arsenal.
