CARLY PEARCE - Hummingbird - Big Machine Records

It is difficult to name a more successful artist in country music over the past few years than Carly Pearce.  The Kentucky native has gone from talented songwriter and aspiring recording artist to Grammy, CMA, and ACM-Award winner in an unprecedented amount of time.  Truly a household name in country music, the superstar made a major announcement during last week’s Country Radio Seminar in Nashville that she will be releasing her highly anticipated fourth studio album.

Additionally, paired with the announcement of the new record is the unveiling of its title track, which is available now digitally and on all streaming platforms via Big Machine Records.

With industry acclaim and mainstream success of nearly every song she releases, Carly has continued to garner praise amongst fans and critics alike as she showcases her unique talent as a songwriter to shine a light on common themes from revolutionary perspectives.  “Hummingbird” is a songwriter’s song, with the focus on the musical arrangement and sophisticated lyrical imagery.  Pearce’s voice is impeccably beautiful, with her trademark vocal ebbs and flows incorporating a contriving variety of vulnerability and subtle bravado from start to finish.

“The heart forgets the battle but remembers who it was

No scientist can calculate the ratio of love

It don’t know if it’s beatin’

It don’t know if it’s dead

I’m just tired of keepin’ me out of my head”

Over the years, the Kentucky native has scored continuous success with the modern country sounds displayed on the hits “What He Didn’t Do” and “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Ashley McBryde, among others.  In contrast, this latest effort finds the songstress returning to her roots a bit, reminding us all just how well-rounded and musically versatile she can be as a songwriter and vocalist.

“When I wrote this song, I knew I wanted this to be the title of the album,” Pearce shared.  “This song plays on my bluegrass roots but also lyrically tells the story of the journey I am on of finding love.  This is the most unapologetically ‘Carly’ song I’ve ever written.”

Due for a June 14th release, ‘Hummingbird’ was produced by Pearce along with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne.  The 14-track collection represents Carly’s first effort as a co-producer, and having co-written all but one song, it truly represents a new chapter in the award-winning singer-songwriter’s career.

Following the monumental success of her last studio album, ’29: Written In Stone’, ‘Hummingbird’ includes the tracks “Country Music Made Me Do it” and “Heels Over Head” as well as the Grammy-nominated, Top 20 single “We Don’t Fight Anymore” featuring Chris Stapleton.  And even though she has undoubtedly found her niche as one of the truly gifted talents in country music and a limitless ceiling of success ahead of her, she continues to grow as a person, a singer, and an artist.

“I have lived a lot of life in the last few years.  Entering a new decade has brought a lot maturity, growth, heartache, and healing,” she said.  “I am still a work in progress, but these songs represent my honesty, playfulness, and openness to keep growing.”
