  JENNA PAULETTE - Darlin'- Leo33

Here at Today’s Country Magazine, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to an abundance of aspiring artists on the up-and-coming country music scene.  There is an endless surplus of talent, with a variety of outside influences and elements that collectively contribute to the most-competitive genre in the industry.  And yet, through the vast array of talent that seems to grow endlessly by the day, there are a select few artists whose lights shine a little brighter than others.

Jenna Paulette, a working-cowgirl-and-miraculously-talented singer-songwriter from Lewisville, Texas, has released her new single.  “Darlin’” is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now.

Released on March 1st, the tune is Jenna’s first taste of new music with independent record label LEO 33.  Co-written by  Paulette along with Jess Cayne and Matthew Morrisey, “Darlin’” tells the tale of relationship turmoil, heartbreak, and healing.  The deeply sentimental track somberly sways through the emotional toils of a toxic relationship, incorporating metaphors through a story that only country music can tell.

Jenna’s vocals are pristine on this track, showcasing her raw power and range as well as her ability to remain subdued at the right moments.  The vulnerability bestowed here is stunning, and the somber vibe she is able to exuberate strictly through her delivery and pronunciation takes the song to another level.

“He calls me pretty

And I believe him

Tells me he loves me

And God I can feel it

His prayer there was answered

When I was your problem

Yeah it’s really somethin’

The way I keep fallin’

When he calls me darlin’”

Paulette made a splash on the country music scene with the release of her debut album, ‘The Girl I Was,’ in March 2023.  Tallying over 30 million on-demand streams, the collection was praised by critics and adored by fans for its relatability, down-to-earth nature, and musical sophistication.

Named as one of CMT’s Next Women of Country in 2022 and collaborating with some of the biggest songwriters in the industry, from Ashley Gorley to Will Bundy to Rhett Akins, Jenna has incorporated elements from some of history’s most successful female country singers, from Shania Twain to Miranda Lambert, to create a sound and vibe that is true to herself and unique from others.  With the expected release of a sophomore album in the near future and the support of Leo 33, Paulette is set to take her career to the next level in 2024.
