HEARTWRECKERS - Shut Up - Independent Release

Brock Butler and Ryan Garrett, collectively known as Heartwreckers, are set to formally introduce the world to their brand of refreshingly blunt and unapologetic country music.  Serving as a preview to their upcoming debut EP, ‘Shut Up And Drink’, on May 24, the duo’s first single is set to raucously announce the arrival of a fresh new act.  The filter-less anthem “Shut Up” is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now.

While the tune’s title may suggest a hard-hitting anthem, the reality is that the ebb and flow is a more subtle, gentle account.  The track is a conversation between two friends, one who is grieving of heartbreak after the end of a relationship, while the other is supporting his friend and encourages him to get over it and move on.  And the best way to do so, in his opinion…is to “shut up and drink”.

It’s a pleasant, clean, steadily catchy musical arrangement, one that would certainly lend itself to country radio.  The chorus opens a bit, displaying the vocal ability of Butler and Garrett.  These guys have something legit and genuine, and are putting their ability as singers and songwriters on full display right from the beginning of their career.

“Shut up and drink

And don’t even think about that goodbye girl no more

Get to sipping and forgetting her name

She’s a dive bar dime-a-dozen anyway

Shut up and drink

Oh and brother I’ll pour

If she’s on your mind, hell no she ain’t

Don’t say a damn thing

Shut up and drink”

Having both attended the same high school in Boerne, TX high school, the two songwriters didn’t meet until they each moved to Nashville to pursue the same dream.  Their honest, unedited approach to country music is infused with elements of grassroots and rock, and “Shut Up” is a taste of what we can all expect from their upcoming five-track EP which will feature honest criticism and hard-hitting country rock music.

“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been writing songs in Nashville and you throw out an idea and everyone in the room says, ‘Oh that’s sick!’” Brock shared.  “But then they immediately follow it with, ‘But we can’t say that’.”

“And then I’m like, ‘We can say whatever the f**k we want,’” Ryan said.

So with that being said, who knows what we will hear come May 24th with the release of ‘Shut Up And Drink’.  For now, we are enjoying the introduction of a brand-new duo, fresh on the scene with the energy and motivation to take the country music world by storm.
