JELLY ROLL - Halfway to Hell - Stoney Creek Records

With three consecutive No. 1 singles at country radio under his belt in 2023, CMA New Artist Of the Year Jelly Roll is set to keep the momentum rolling with his first offering of the new year.  “Halfway To Hell” is available on all streaming platforms and is impacting country radio now via Stoney Creek Records.

Already widely regarded as a fan favorite, the tune serves as the opening track of his debut country record, ‘Whitsitt Chapel’.

“I wanted to start this album with something hard, and something that meant something and something that felt something,” Jelly Roll shared.  “And something that was about constant duality of life that I love to write songs about.  Being somewhere between right and wrong”.

With “Heaven and Hell”, the rocker-turned-country crooner is formally introducing himself to the wider, more mainstream country audience with an autobiographical tale of his life, past, present, and future.  He finds himself as a crossroads, caught somewhere in between the “good life and the bad life”, facing demons while thankful for his blessings.  We, as listeners, can relate to this notion on some level, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that the tune is a catchy, hook-grabbing rocker.

“I’m a dive bar Sunday sermon

Holy water with my bourbon

Standin’ on a bridge I’m burning

With a can of gasoline

Am I worth savin’ if I’m always fadin’?

It feels like I’m caught in-between”

The honest, vulnerability, and unapologetic struggle exonerated in this song is what has resonated with fans since their first listen.  We have all experienced these themes of inner conflict, redemption, and battling our sense of right and wrong to some degree, and this message coming from a man who was once at the depths of defeat and is now surging with success and populating packs a powerfully impactful punch of meaning that will reverberate with many of us going forward.

“Halfway To Hell” follows the multi-week chart-toppers “Son Of A Sinner” and “Need A Favor”, as well as the GRAMMY nominated single, “Save Me”, featuring Lainey Wilson.  That success has been heralded as almost unprecedented, as he became just the second artist in history to have his first three releases all reach the top spot on the chart within a single calendar year (Wynonna being the other in 1992).

Having already enjoyed a wildly-popular nationwide tour in 2023, playing sold-out venues across the country, Jelly Roll has been confirmed for shows at some of the biggest festivals of the year as well as being a special guest on select dates of Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time Tour.
