TIGIRLILY GOLD - I Tried a Ring On" - Monument Records

With the breakout success of “Shoot Tequila,” Tigirlily Gold broke through the proverbial division line between striving to make it and fully arriving, exploding onto the country music scene with an addictively catchy anthem that saw them soaring to new heights and becoming one of the hottest duos on the circuit today.

Though a carefree, be who you are empowerment weaves throughout their catalog on songs such as “Blonde” and “My Thang,” they’re now scaling back the tempo to share our first look at their next chapter with new single, “I Tried A Ring On.”

The song, written by Kendra and Krista (Tigirlily Gold), Pete Good, and Josh Jenkins, strums a softer pace that allows the duo, both lyrically and vocally, to tap into the emotional vulnerability of losing out on a love that you thought was a sure thing.

With the gamut of emotions running within the hushed, wavered vocals as she faces the mirror of what she thought it was versus what it turned out to be, Kendra holds the leads with a mature truth on lines such as “hand on the bible, I swore that you were the one” and “maybe I got carried away and baby that's fair,” while also allowing her conflictions of blamed fault to glide underneath, “you held me in your arms and you kissed me like forever, how the hell was I supposed to know any better?” and “you told me I was the one you couldn't live without and the way that you said it, I believed it like a vow.”

Wrapped in a false sense of security and outlined by the hurt that she admittedly brought upon herself, the chorus then hits a crescendo moment that sees the siblings elevating their signature harmonies to the forefront to expertly strike the hurt within the realization of how far off the mark she was while fighting the battle against herself within her own regrets:

“We flew to the sun but that high didn't last

It didn't work out, I ain't even mad about that

I'm sure I'll get over you being gone

I just feel stupid

I tried a ring on”

Adding one last heartstring tugging grip, she sews her feelings together when she confesses how good it felt to try the ring on and to visualize the dress, the venue, and the song that would carry them through their first dance.

While that once in a lifetime feeling of finding the right one carries many exuberant emotions with it, heartbreaking lost love is a resonating feeling that everyone has experienced the pains of. Combine that strong connection factor with a compelling vulnerability that we really haven’t heard since “Somebody Does,” and the sibling duo has started off the new year with a song that will turn heads yet again through a pure showcase that highlights their depth as songwriters and vocalists.
