MELISSA LIVINGSTONE - More Time - Yee Haw Records

With her last single “Grew Up On It,” TCM Class of 2023 artist and “Country Enough” singer/songwriter Melissa Livingstone autobiographically re-introduced herself to the country music masses with an ultra-catchy melody and uber relatable lyrics that spoke straight to the down-home hearts who wax nostalgic on their lessons learned from the years gone by.

She now returns with her brand-new release, “More Time.”

The song, co-written by Melissa, Ben Chase, and Lydia Sutherland, softens the pace to allow her to gently place her emotionally bent vocal atop the slow waltz infused pacing of the melody, expertly adding depth to the overall vibe and presentation as Livingstone examines her own life path while facing the bridal suite mirror in yet another bridesmaid dress.

But by now I should be ready, that’s what mama did expect,” she sings in the opening verse as her mom’s expectations echo through her thoughts, replaying the anxious prodding of how she should be the one who’s wearing that white dress by now.

With such raw honesty embedded into a common feeling that so many women have, Melissa instantly grips their heartstrings while providing an understanding shoulder for them to lean on.

However, as the lyric begins its steady progression through her entire thought process there becomes an overwhelmingly freeing tone to her absolute knowing that she’s making healthy strides on the right road toward discovering who she is as an individual regardless of what others may think, arriving at the chorus where she boldly embraces her current positioning:

“And I’m little behind in their eyes

Instead of walking down the aisle

I’m walking my own road

And I believe the best things happen slow

I don’t take on their impatience

I just take more time than most”

Coming into full understanding that it’s perfectly okay to swerve the typical pressures when navigating your twenty-somethings, she tells of relocating to different cities in her search of finding where she fits in best while masterfully utilizing the bridge to hit a crescendo moment of unbridled peace when she boldly declares in an encouraging word to herself, “not gonna be in a hurry, I’m living in the now!”

As Melissa Livingstone continues to make solid impact in Music City while finding her strong circle within the songwriting community, she also continues to turn open the pages of her diary through song and invite the listener into knowing the different layers of who she is as an artist, a songwriter, and at her core as a person who’s experiencing the same relatable growing pains and lessons that we all carry with us.
