SHAYLEN - Cowboys Never Cry - Two Hats Music Group

Pop artist turned country starlet Shaylen is back where she belongs.  The Chattanooga-born, Dallas-raised singer-songwriter has been turning heads since arriving in Nashville to formally pursue her career in country music.

The breakout artist has released her new single, “Cowboys Never Cry”, available now digitally and on all streaming platforms via Two Hats Music Group.

The soulful, break-up ballad tells the tale of a relationship that wasn’t meant to be, leaving those involved to wonder what might have been while longing for something more.  The use of pedal steel provides the backbone for the nostalgically somber track, which showcases Shaylen’s powerful vocal delivery as she croons her way through the story of heartbreak.

Evoking an emotional response from Shaylen, herself, she hopes the song will similarly resonate with her listeners and fans.

“I remember finishing the demo and had tears in my eyes because it just felt so special,” Shaylen said.  “It’s a side of a story that I’ve never gotten to share in quite the way I wanted to.  I hope everyone can feel that and relate to it in the way I do.”

The lyrics set the scene for the relationship tragedy, inviting the listener into the heart and mind of both parties involved in the breakup.  Co-written by Shaylen along with Seth Ennis and Evan Cline, “Cowboys Never Cry” expertly tip-toes the emotionally-charged thoughts about mourning the end of a relationship while also wondering what could have been.

“There it was in the rearview mirror

He broke wide open like the Tennessee river

Face went even more red than my tail lights

Standing on the porch screaming “come back baby”

This F150 almost did a 180

When I saw those tears falling from his eyes

Where was this the whole time

I thought cowboys never cry”

Growing up while listening to icon voices from Elvis to Willie Nelson, Shaylen has always been a fan and had an appreciation for country music.  After releasing four country singles, “Cowboys Never Cry” follows her collaboration with Austin John Winkler (former frontman of Hinder) for a reinvited version of the hit single “Lips Of An Angel”.

The songstress’s debut country single, “What If I Don’t”, surpassed 10 million streams of Spotify, while “Do It Right The First Time” hit #34 on the iTunes Country Charts with over 500,000 streams in just its first week.  “Roots” and “Closest Thing To Closure” added to her impressive and ever-growing musical catalogue, which continues to escalate her up the ladder of country music mainstream notoriety.
