While still working on her upcoming debut full-length project, Catie Offerman has already made a name for herself amongst fans, critics, and fellow artists as one of the more talent young artists in country music today.  Her new tune, “Ask Me To Dance,” continues a stretch of impressive releases, showcasing her unique abilities as a singer, songwriter, and collaborator.

Written by Offerman along with Brent Cobb and Neil Medley, this tune is a classic, old-school ode to traditional country.  One of Catie’s music idols as a young aspiring artist was George Strait, and the elements of the King Of Country’s influence are sprinkled throughout the arrangement of this tune.  It’s toe-tapping rhythm and accompanying acoustic and steel-guitar licks are irresistibly ear-pleasing, inviting the listener into the song’s lyrical story.

“I love listening back to the work tape,” Catie shares.  “It’s the best kind of laid back, and it reminds me of a Texas dancehall at closing time.”

Written about a night out with someone new, the tune tells the tale of knowing what you want, but wanting the other person to make the first move.  The lyrics are fun, clever, and instantly ingrained in the listener’s head the first time through the chorus.

“Beer’s getting’ warm, your feet look cold

I’m gettin’ bored and the night’s getting’ old

Neon’s runnin’ out of buzz, time’s runnin’ out on us

You better move quick ‘fore you lose your chance

Come on, boy, ask me to dance”

Fellow Texan Hayes Carll is featured on the track as well, adding his classic drawl and strong southern vocal delivery from the second verse through completion.  The collaboration of the two vocalists undeniably adds to the emotional effectiveness of the song’s story of two people wanting to take their new relationship to the next level.

“When we started talking about the song going on my (upcoming) project, I immediately thought of Hayes,” she recalls.  “I am so grateful that he said yes to being a part of this song.”

After releasing four songs in 2022, including “Happyland Trailer Park,” “Don’t Do It In Texas,” “Get A Dog,” and “’Til I See You Again,” Catie once again garnered the industry’s attention with the release of “I Just Killed A Man” earlier this year.

The talented Texan was named Pandora Country’s Artists to Watch for 2023 as well as one of CMT’s Next Women of Country, and a little more than halfway through the year, she has been living up to the hype, as anticipation continues to mount for what we can expect from her upcoming project. With the look, sound, and talent of a bright young starlet, Catie Offerman is sure to turn herself into a household name in the country music world very soon.
