It feels like ages ago that Priscilla Block was an aspiring singer-songwriter who had just arrived in Nashville from her native Raliegh, NC in hopes of achieving her dream of becoming a country music artist.  The release of her debut full length album, ‘Welcome To The Block Party,’ in February 2022 transformed her into one of the brightest young stars in the genre, and now flash forward to summer 2023, and it’s difficult to find a faster-rising success story.

“Fake Names,” Block’s latest release, is available digitally now and on all streaming platforms via Mercury Nashville.  Written by Priscilla along with Alysa Vanderheym, Summer Overstreet and Audra Mae, the song’s a fun, sing-along anthem with an underlying message that rings true for all of us in one form or another.

The tune tells the tale of the trials and tribulations associated with the grind of our everyday lives, and how there are some times when we need to escape, let loose, and focus on nothing else but enjoying yourself.  A night out on the town with your closest friends can be the best remedy, and temporarily forgetting who you are and what your responsibilities are can allow you to unwind, regroup, and rejuvenate yourself.  Oh yeah, and have a good time!

“It was such a fun process,” Block said describing the songwriting process.  “You know, you always have that one friend that drinks too much, or the girl that’s starting fights in the bar, or the one that might get arrested by the end of the night.  It’s just a really fun song about going out and being someone totally different for the night.”

The lyrics are clever, crafty and relatable, putting the listener right in the shotgun seat of the car as the ladies are headed out for a wild night on the town.  Block’s trademark delivery invites us to sing along while we sway and bounce to the upbeat, catchy melody.

“Some of us are sick and tired of our small town

And some of us wish the PTA would calm down

And all of us need more than wind down and a clock out

I know I could use an alter-ego, ego boost right now”

“Fake Names” follows “Couple Spring Breaks Back,” her first release of 2023.  Her biggest hit to date, the platinum certified “Just About Over You,” was a game-changer as it was followed by ACM and CMT Award nominations and her #1 hit single with Justin Moore, “You Me, and Whiskey.”

Fans across the country have the opportunity to see Priscilla from now through the end of the year.  Amongst many headlining gigs and special appearances at fairs and festivals, she is also set to be the special guest on Old Dominion’s No Bad Vibes Tour as well as The You, Me & Whiskey Tour with Justin Moore.  She will wrap her 2023 schedule at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on December 15th before performing at Boots On The Beach in Punta Cana from late January into early February 2024.
