Multi-Platinum, 3X Grammy-winning duo Dan + Shay stopped the country music world in its tracks with the release of their first single since 2021.  Now, with a new album on the horizon, they have released a brand-new tune off the upcoming set, “Always Gonna Be.”

After having wrapped up their touring run in support of their critically acclaimed platinum record ‘Good Things’ in 2021, the pair took extended time off and eventually met to discuss the future of the group.

“One of the goals we set was to spend more time together, like we did early on, so we decided to write the next day,” the duo shared.  “We sat down with an acoustic guitar, and out of the sky fell a song called ‘Always Gonna Be.’ It was the first song we wrote for the album and will always be one of the most special.”

The result is a personal, sentimental, and irresistibly catchy tune about the recognition and celebration of the most important things in our lives.  Written by Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney along with Ashley Gorley, Jordan Minton, and Jordan Reynolds, “Always Gonna Be” finds the duo right in their comfort zone, running off beautiful melodies and harmonies with such finesse and grace that so few in this industry are able to do.

Lyrically, this tune is as down-home, genuine, and relatable as we have come to expect from a duo that has continued to deliver some of the best music we’ve had in country music over the past decade. The first verse illustrates all of the every-day pieces of our lives that we unconsciously take for granted and those blessings that we appreciate with the understanding that they don’t last forever.

“Paradise is a swing on a porch

Summertime is a little too short

The best things in life are free

And they’re always gonna be”

The chorus breaks and tugs at the heart strings, offering the inspiration of love and eternity, professing that in a world surrounded by constant change, the one mainstay in our minds and hearts is everlasting love.

“Long as the sun keeps comin’ up

Long as the Mississippi runs

Baby, just like you and me

Some things are always gonna be”

As expected, but also something that should never be overlooked, is the masterful vocal delivery and collaboration between these two incredibly talented musicians.  This is a catchy tune that will have us all tapping our toes and bobbing our heads while singing along to the lyrics that are in our minds and have been written in our diaries and journals for years.  The songwriting, production, and arrangement of this song are all on point, collectively adding to a catalogue that’s climbing of the charts is one of the more impressive of the past decade.

‘Bigger Houses,’ the duo’s fifth album, will be released on September 15th via Warner Music Nashville.  Co-produced by Smyers along with Scott Hendricks, the record previously spawned “Heartbreak On The Map,” the title track “Bigger Houses,” as well as the lead single, “Save Me The Trouble,” which became the highest Country Aircheck debut since June 2022 when it was released to radio.

With the ‘Bigger House’ release date a little over a month away and four new tunes already available, anticipation for what we can expect from this record-setting duo continues to escalate to an all-time high.
