Kylie Morgan has experienced a lot throughout her country music career thus far.  She has become her own sugar daddy, she’s loved like she’s drunk, but she doesn’t stay gone too long.  The EMI Records Nashville recording artist, single by single, has established herself as one of the true bright young stars in country music.  Her latest, “A Few Hearts Ago,” is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now.

Morgan co-wrote the tune with Casey Brown and James McNair, adding to an ever-growing and widely diverse collection that continues to build the platform of a mainstay in country music.  “A Few Hearts Ago” is a story of love’s journey, reflecting upon the trials and tribulations of past relationships while expressing gratitude for fate’s plan.  It’s an unapologetically vulnerable account of her heart’s history, from sorrow to healing to falling in love for the last time.

Kylie shared that the inspiration behind the song came from the realization of “when it’s finally the right person AND the right time.”  Even at still such a young age, she has been through ups and downs just like her listeners, and her willingness to share her thoughts and emotions with us all is something we have loved about her since she was barely a teenager.  As she self proclaimed, this song is “another piece of my heart and my story.”

Lyrically, this song is everything we have come to know and love about this talented singer-songwriter.  The subject matter is personal to her but is also relatable to most (if not all) of us.  Her ability to write a sophisticated story in simple terms is immaculately on display here, as the listener is almost immediately enticed to sing alongside the inviting and ear-pleasing melody.

“A few hearts ago

Would’ve broken yours, I’d be missing out

Wouldn’t have these lips I’m kissing now

Time did what it’s supposed to do

Thank God I didn’t meet you

A few hearts ago”

Perhaps the most impressive element of the Oklahoma native’s musical catalogue is the sundry boundaries of country music to which she relates and at which she can excel.  From summer anthems and party songs perfect for road trips and girls nights out to ballads of heartbreak and now odes of nostalgia.  The emotional connection she has been able to make with the country music world is undeniable as she has a devout following while also continuing garnering new fans with each release.

“A Few Hearts Ago” follows her most recent effort, “Sugar Daddy.”  Meanwhile, her hit single “If He Wanted To He Would” continues to impact at country radio, recognized as one of the mainstay standout tracks of the year thus far.  Fans across the nation will have the opportunity catch Kylie’s live show as she is the special guest on the No Bad Vibes Tour with Old Dominion.  The extended trek will head coast to coast through the end of the year.
