Though initially released in September 2022, the tremendous viral numbers its already experienced has rising country sensation Dylan Schneider set to impact airwaves with what might become his biggest song to date, “Ain’t Missing You.”

Following the surge that arrived with the release of last year’s College Town EP, the song (co-written by Dylan with Brett Tyler and Lalo Guzman) sees him singing an open letter to his girl’s ex-boyfriend, delivering the hard truths to him while highlight the undeniable proof that she’s doing much better now that she’s moved on.

Twisting digs at the guy who let her go and doesn’t get a second chance, Schneider sings in list like fashion through each of the verses of all the different ways that he hopes her ex is now feeling; “I hope it hurts,” “I hope you’re thinkin’ how that girl was the best you ever had,” “I hope you spent the last few months feelin' sorry for yourself,” “I hope you try to call her late at night when you're alone and she don't answer 'cause she's with me,” etc.

Underneath these scenarios that he hopes her ex is experiencing, however, Schneider slides into the absolute truth that he knows is occurring when he breaks it all down through one final shot in the chorus:

“I hate to break it to you
But she's movin' on like you thought she'd never would
And if I'm bein' honest with you
When she's in my arms, she says it feels like it should
She's been pickin' up the pieces, puttin' you on a shelf
Ain't thinkin' 'bout your goodbye, 'cause somebody else is
Kissin' her, holdin' her, lovin' her like you couldn't do
So, if you're missin' her, man, she ain't missin' you
She ain't missin' you”

Country music certainly gets a heaping helping of songs that take us into the hurt heart of the one who is struggling to move on in the aftermath of the split. Very rarely, though, does one come at us from this perspective, giving “Ain’t Missing You” an intriguingly unique flavor to call its own.

Most of us have been in both male positions that get tackled here, being the guy who is missing what he had or being the one who is thankful that the other guy let her go. However, where this song becomes so universally connectible is that the female listener has also been in the shoes of this moving on female character.

Schneider’s amazing abilities as a songwriter to hit on all possible emotional sides of this type of situation is exactly why this song has already resonated so much, and the reason why it will continue to connect on an even grander scale over the airwaves to give him what will most likely be the highest charting smash of his budding career.
