Caitlynne Curtis is certainly not a stranger to fans who walk the edgier side of country music’s line.

Having struck the #1 Billboard position alongside mentor/label boss Struggle Jennings with “God We Need You Now,” and already amassing over 650K views alongside him on the music video for “Fell Outta Love,” her outstanding voice is undeniable as she balances its deeper tones within pop sensibilities, hip hop kissed vibes, and modern country flare.

Caitlynne now makes her debut as a solo artist with “Where You Left Off.”

Leaning into the softer pace of the instrumentation, the ballad allows Curtis to fully grip the emotional tug through expert utilization of tonality in her voice as she takes us through a heartfelt thank you letter to her dad.

Though she shares her deep rooted feelings of him giving up on his dreams too early, she also paints a wonderful picture of how great a father he is through powerful lines such as, “the love you didn’t get you gave us,” before then striking the heart of the song in the chorus when she reveals that his dreams aren’t gone because they’re living on through her:

“Picking up where you left off

I hope you know your dreams ain’t lost

Using everything you taught me to be

Hoping that you can see that

I’m picking up where you left off

So you know you didn’t get it wrong

And you didn’t a damn good job

I’m just picking up where you left off”

Sealing the deal on being the next generation of his dreams come to life, though he’s painted as a stoic man in many ways, Curtis cleverly showcases his gentle side in the second verse when she knowingly sings “I can see it when you smile, I know you’re proud,” before boldly reassuring, “You found out your purpose as a father.”

With the perfect timing of this release coming just ahead of Father’s Day, Caitlynne Curtis makes immediate impact with the endearingly relatable way that she works through masterful phrasings to calm her father’s natural anxieties, fears, and doubts by allowing himself and who he is to shine through who she’s become; Something we all need to let our parents see within us as a spotlight reminder of their job well done.
