When “Mercury Rising” was released in mid-2020, pop country flared singer-songwriter Tezza hit her breakthrough note, amassing a whopping 3.5 million Spotify streams which accelerated her career at a rapid pace.

Since then, the young emerging talent has spent time honing her craft through top-notch writing sessions, high-profile songwriter rounds, and recent opening dates for Gary Levox and Jerrod Niemann, all while continually building a strong following through an uber welcoming social media presence.

She now returns with “89 Airstream,” her first new music since “Mercury Rising.”

With a float on the breeze nostalgia built into the melody, a breath of fresh air embedded into her vocal provides a looking back smile to the coming-of-age lyrics as a summery vibed soundtrack laces the background to tickle your senses as you listen.

Tracing the lines of a cross country road trip with her friends in an 89 Airstream after graduating high school, she craftily uses the opening verse to perfectly set the vivid scene and move the story in motion, admitting that they carefreely had no real plan to follow other then to just get the heck out there.

But as the song rolls into the chorus, it takes its shape through her precise songwriting prowess as she paints pictures like map dots of not only their trip from AC to CA, but also masterfully unpacks the depth of how this particular road trip shaped who they’d all become when she tells of learning about loving and leaving, doubting and believing, and living in the moment of the American dream.

Reminiscently, she flips through her Polaroid photos in the second verse, inviting us into memorable moments such as Jimmy spending the night in a county jail and Jessie falling in love in St. Augustine, before then bringing it all back into the here in now where she reveals in the bridge that they’ve all gone their separate ways today while skillfully reminding that the good memories you carry within you will always live on even as friendships fade.

Who doesn’t have a story like this in their own lives? Pockets full of moments that when strung together allow us to discover the very instances that helped us define who we are. That strong relatability factor combines with smart instrumentational accompaniment to engulf the overall feel while capturing the listener’s attention to get them thinking back on their own stories as Tezza candidly shares hers.
