Firmly establishing themselves as one of Canadian country’s hottest rising acts, James Barker Band is back with a brand new single.  Perfect for the kickoff of summer, “On The Water”, available everywhere via RECORDS Nashville, promises to be the latest fan favorite for the hitmakers, featuring special guest Dalton Dover.

Simply put, this song is a summer anthem, perfect for a day out on the boat while enjoying the nice weather and company.  Written by Hunter Phelps, Ben Johnson, and Jordan Minton, “On The Water” is a carefree, “enjoy-the-moment” celebration of time spent with friends and family.

The clever lyrics delivered through twangy vocals lend themselves as a perfect compliment alongside an upbeat, catchy melody to immerse itself in the minds of fans upon the first listen.

When summer hits, the music industry is undoubtedly and expectedly overrun with summertime anthems. And while this song certainly falls into the category of the changing-of-the-season, the unique lyrical description of the scene and the complimentary ability of Dover’s vocals alongside Barker’s set this tune apart from the rest.

“Turn boots into bare feet, find a shoreline

Till we’re chillin’ like Buffet

On a blue sky bender

Working on nothin’ But a Busch Light

I need a day on the water

‘Fore I up and lose my mind”

“On The Water” follows JBB’s RECORDS Nashville label debut single, “Meet Your Mama”, which catapulted to the top spot on the Canadian Country radio chart.

While to some country music fans, the James Barker Band may be a new name on the scene, they have been a hit-making mainstay in their homeland of Canada since 2017, churning out multiple Gold-certified and Platinum-certified #1 songs with no signs of slowing down.

Dover first introduced himself to the mainstream national audience during his appearance on The Voice in 2019.  A native of Rome Georgia, Dalton made his UMG Nashville debut with his single, “Giving Up On That” in February.
