Texas based singer/songwriter Jake Bush has been on a tremendous run this past year. “Gravity and You” and “Better By The Beer,” both taken from his latest album 7, each earned Bush the coveted #1 slot on the Texas Regional Radio Report.

Fresh off back-to-back #1’s, Bush now returns with his new single “If You Ever Get Lonely,” a heartbreak song that although vastly different lyrically from his previous two singles, still retains the signature traditional infused Texas country sound that defines Jake Bush.

He instantly pulls you into the loneliness that comes in the aftermath of a break-up when he sings of nothing new happening in his life since she left him and being stuck in the same old routines while he wonders where they went wrong.

He laments that he’s heard she’s happy and has found a new love, before punching us to the chorus where he unravels his most inner thoughts as if he is singing a handwritten letter that he wrote to her:

“If you ever get lonely and you miss me

If you ever wonder how we might be

If you ever go looking for that something

Maybe it’ll lead you to me

If you ever get lonely.”

This topic isn’t anything new - just look at a song such as Jack Ingram’s “Maybe She’ll Get Lonely” - but that doesn’t make it any less relatable. We’ve all been through a break-up where our other half has moved on and we’re feeling stuck in hoping they come back – even if it’s not in the cards.

That strong connection with nearly everyone’s story, smashed together with the recent wave of success that Jake Bush has been experiencing, are the two factors that could quite possibly be the reasons that we’ll see him landing his third #1 in a row with “If You Ever Get Lonely.”
