There’s no real formula for breaking into the country music industry as a new artist. However, one good place to start is to put yourself in a song and introduce yourself to the listener through it, so that they have a great idea as to who you are all-around and can connect with you.

This is exactly what Tyler Short has done on his new song “This Is Me.”

Wrapped around the type of classic country tilted instrumentation that is often found on the 90’s brand of country music, the blue-collar working man anthem explores several different instances where you need to stay true to yourself despite what those around you think about it; whether it’s with a girl you thought was the one questioning your dirty old ball cap and wanting you to change your ways, or a crowd at new bar wanting to know why you’re wearing a cowboy hat and boots.

Short uses the chorus to connect with the common, everyday man as he paints vivid pictures of who he is when he sings of being the type to wear worn out denim jeans and pearl snap shirts, drive a rusty old pickup truck, etc. And as the chorus rolls to an end, in anthematic fashion he sings out the fist-pumping line, “if you got a problem with the way I am, you can kiss my blue-collar ass.”

Breaking onto the country charts is certainly no easy task for a new artist on the scene, but Tyler Short accomplishes something just as important with this first official release – he connects with the everyday, common man and instantly becomes a voice they can appreciate and stand behind.

This factor makes “This Is Me” a great choice for a single as it allows Tyle Short to begin building a solid, grassroots fan base that he can continue to grow with each release thereafter.
