Mo Robson has been bringing his outlaw branded honky-tonk style to speakers and dance halls across Texas for over 20 years, but lately he’s been squarely focused on his live show and not on recording – Until now!

Robson has just returned with his brand-new single “Drinkin’ Til I Forget,” and it smashes together all the elements of his familiar rock-kissed, honky-tonk edge into one semi-autobiographical package.

The traditional country instrumentation that you’d want in a song that’s destined to become a honky-tonk classic is present here; from the prominent use of the fiddle to the boot heel clicking rhythm.

Lyrically, Robson sings from the perspective of a man who walks on the edge of living it up just a little too much every time he goes out on the town, but although he knows he’s doing it, he continues to do it over again and again.

“Well I drank too much last night, no clue what went on,” is the line that opens the song, and it sets the entire tone in motion as he begins to look back on the night before from the next morning point of view: “I woke up still wearing my boots, but none of my clothes,” “I was still drunk this morning, so I started drinking some more,” “I probably wound up in places that I know not to go,” etc.

Though the conflict never resolves, this also isn’t the type of song where the lyric is the true bent. Instead, this is the type of song that is designed to bring a rowdy, Friday night crowd out onto the dance hall floor and get ‘em two-stepping.

“Drinkin’ Til I Forget” certainly accomplishes that!
