As Jameson Rodgers continues unveiling his latest batch of music, he’s intriguingly hyping things still to come by exposing depth-filled layers of who he is as an artist and songwriter, shining a bright spotlight on the influence that several different genres have had on him.

Following last month’s “Built for Heartbreak,” Rogers now returns with “Mine For The Summer.”

The song, co-written by Jameson with Brent Anderson, Smith Ahnquist, and Jake Mitchell, upholds that signature, modern country vibe that has defined Rodgers so far, but also slides into his 90’s rock influence to interestingly give us a song that could impact country radio while finding strong placement at stations spinning The Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty, etc.

In similar ways like Kenny Chesney painted the perfect picture of summer romance on “Anything But Mine,” Rodgers puts on an incredible display of his penmanship by not only pulling you into his own tale, but skillfully making you fondly reminisce on your own; singing scene setting visual lines to open the song, “Party lights hanging off of the rafters. The sunset just chased out the rain.”

As the song progresses, so does the beating of their hearts as he softly builds their budding romance line by line, telling of how she playfully stole his hat just like she did his heart and how she can’t keep her hands out of his back pocket, and how he can’t stop staring at her in that dress.

Hitting its crescendo, Jameson allows his hearts flutter to steer his feelings through the chorus as he sings…

“So, keep dancing like nobody’s watching us dance

Keep kissing me like I’m already your man

And I know I just met you but girl I don’t mind

If you’re mine for the night, mine for the summer

Or mine for the rest of my life”

… While then continuing to pull into the bridge off the sentiment of that last line, lamenting that while he may never see her again, he could just as well put down 10% on house somewhere in her hometown; perfectly providing the juxtaposition of the racing emotional fuel between your heart and your brain when you know what’s happening is so so good, but you also know it’s coming to its inevitable end.

Jameson Rodgers broke out the gate pretty quickly with “Some Girls” and “Cold Beer Calling My Name” both racing up the charts and thrusting him into the limelight. However, 2023 is proving to be a turning point year for the hot rising star as he continues redefining what we already thought we knew about him to give us a handful of songs that showcase his willingness to shift his music slightly out of the comfort zone and into fresh, new territory to push strongly into his next chapter.
