Tigirlily Gold has really broken through over the past few months thanks to the success of their Friday night anthem, “Shoot Tequila,” while also satisfying their growing fan base with the tongue and cheek laden “Blonde,” as they offered a double shot preview of their forthcoming EP (releasing 6/28/23).

However, before this most recent success, the sibling duo had also showcased their softer paced side and made tremendous impact with the very strong, “Somebody Does.”

In quite a similar way, though different lyrical approach, Tigirlily Gold now releases “Hometown Song,” utilizing their impressive vocal prowess to take us straight into the tug of war within yourself that naturally arrives once you’ve left your hometown, precisely capturing the different emotional juxtapositions that come with moving into your next chapter.

Lamenting the on cold hard truth that “I kinda love it, kinda hate it…it’s simple and complicated,” the lyrics craftily shine the spotlight on someone stuck in the love-hate relationship between your past foundations and your brighter future.

In a yin and yang type of comparison, they share relatable lines from their today’s perspective about the people who they’ve left behind; “For every mean girl I left behind, I gotta couple of friends I can call anytime,” “For every person I want to prove wrong, there’s another I want to make proud,” etc.

While that opening verse looked at the people, the second elevates the song by really digging deeper into themselves and facing the mirror so-to-speak as they share that as far away from their hometown as they may be, “yearbook me” still follows wherever they go.

By transparently shining the spotlight on both sides of the confusion that rattles through your head during any major change that occurs in life, Tigirlily Gold expertly makes the chorus hit just right for those experiencing similar types of feelings in-between moving on and being stuck:

“Took me eighteen years to get out

But I'm still trying to move on

I kinda wanna run back to it

But Lord, I'm grateful to be gone

Yeah, it built me up and broke me down

You think it'd all make sense by now

But I'm still working out the words to my hometown song”

By lifting their signature harmonies, the sibling duo continues to fully display their defining characteristic while expertly setting themselves apart through lyrical showcases that have shown both their playful, fun-loving side, as well as their keen ability to craft something that grips the heart.

Most importantly careerwise, though, they continue to create substantial buzz surrounding their forthcoming EP Blonde with the release of “Hometown Song,” making it one of the summer’s most anticipated.
