Chayce Beckham, who casual fans will recognize from his powerful performances during his winning turn on season 19 of American Idol, has since carved out a strong following on the backs of hot song releases, including his recently re-released single “23,” and electric live performances that have captivated crowds and drawn them further into who he is and where he comes from.

Having already proven that the grit and gravel naturally built into his vocal is the defining characteristic that makes you instantly take notice, underneath that signature surface is a truly gifted songwriter who knows how to walk a perfect balance of an Americana blended country style with ideals of traditional branded songwriting in that he crafts his life story truths into something that consistently resonates.

Beckham continues following those traits on his newest release, “Till The Day I Die.”

Lamenting as he autobiographically tells in a way that recalls the late icon Merle Haggard, who he namechecks later in the song, that while his mama tried to shape him and not let him grow up to be wild like a cowboy, the good Lord embedded him with a crazy side that couldn’t be tamed.

Raising a toast to the idea of embracing who you are and what you’re meant to be, Beckham strikes into the chorus acceptingly upholding his cowboy way of living, declaring that if “they don’t play outlaw songs up in the sky” then he’s “gonna keep on raising hell, till the day I die.”

However, it’s when he moves into the final part of the song that he elevates the entire basis of how his wild way of life could change on the other side…if he even gets there.

“Don’t know what I’ll do if I ever get there

Maybe sober up and say a prayer

Stop talking off the ear of Jesus

And telling stories about these nights I’ve had down here”

There’s always going to be an automatic fan base built-in to your career when coming off a highly renowned television competition show as Chayce Beckham has. But where many others have faded into obscurity due to settling into that comfortable place and riding that very fickle wave, Beckham refreshingly continues to challenge himself with each song release, being raw and authentic while building a grassroot following through his personal connection. He easily achieves that again with “Till The Day I Die” as he takes another huge step forward.
