“You know it pisses me off when it’s 3AM and you come home drunk from the bar”.

Now if this isn’t a great first line of a country song in 2023, we don’t know what could be any better.

The latest release from Columbia Nashville’s Ella Langley, “That’s Why We Fight”, features the always-impressive Koe Wetzel and promises to be an immediate favorite for fans of country, rock, and everything in between.

A woozy guitar intro leading into a first verse reminiscent of a Jason Aldean or Brantley Gilbert release builds the anticipation throughout until the chorus explodes with an aggressive, up-tempo singalong that immediately has us wanting more.

It’s a toe-tapper, a head-bobber, and a perfect party anthem for a night out at the bar, a soundtrack for a road trip with the windows down and volume up, or just for a fan of a country rock tune.

Koe and Elle work together flawlessly on this track, complimenting one another vocally throughout to offer both sides of a tumultuous relationship in which, ironically, the fighting is the mainstay and the glue that keeps the partners together.

It’s a unique and fun twist on the ups and downs of communications with a significant other, and while it may not be recommended to engage in such a relationship, this tune offers a musical escape and explanation through a sing-along anthem.

“That’s why we fight, put lightning in the sky

Start smashing every bottle we keep bottled up inside

I take it out on you, take it out on me too

Yeah we know some hell takes us to heaven every time

Hmm, that’s why we fight”

Since relocating to Nashville in 2019, Langley has built a name for herself in town as well as online with an impressive string of releases including “If You Have To”, “Damn You”, and “Country Boy’s Dream Girl”.  Named one of Spotify’s “Hot Country Artists To Watch for 2023” and making her debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage, the Hope Hull, Alabama native is poised to release her Columbia Nashville debut EP ‘Excuse The Mess’.

Northeast Texas native Koe Wetzel has earned a well-deserved devoted fan base for his blend of aggressive country heavily influenced by his love for hard rock.  His full-length record from 2022, ‘Hell Paso’, is a true representation of who he is as an artist and a performer, and his fandom continues to spread with every song we hear and every show he plays.

Together, with Langley’s and Wetzel’s individual talents and contributions, the end result is “What’s Why We Fight”…which is absolutely dynamite.  And we absolutely love it.
