Michael Ray is back with his first new music since his ‘Higher Education’ EP from 2021.  “Get Her Back” is available on all streaming platforms now via Warner Music Nashville.

Written by Dallas Wilson, Jordan James, Lalo and Michael Tyler, the song tells the tale of someone at the end of a relationship, and the twists and turns the tune takes us, the listeners on, is a journey we may not have expected based on the title.

Initially infused with somberness and hopes of restitution, the song quickly transitions to thoughts of revenge and retribution.

“Now I just wanna get her back

For everything that she did behind closed doors

All the lies and the signs that I ignored

Because I swore that I loved her, but now that it’s over

I just wanna get her back”

The hook of the song leaves a lasting impression on us, the listeners, who may not have seen it coming based strictly on the title.  It’s clever, emotionally driven and delivered, complete with the riffs and melodies of any solid country song.

And while the subject matter of a breakup song is not exactly groundbreaking (how can it be at this point?), the creative lyrical approach the songwriters took on this tune certainly place it in its own category.  It’s a perfect introduction to the next stage of Michael Ray’s musical journey, and we are set to be exposed to more new music from him in the coming months.

Throughout his successful string of singles including “Think A Little Less”, “Kiss You In The Morning”, and “One That Got Away”, among others, it seems at times that Michael hasn’t been fully appreciated as a singer-songwriter. This guy is incredibly talented and his work ethic to continuously hone his craft and push himself is undeniable.  Not that he needs to, but this new collection of music he is set to release is sure to prove to any doubters how talented he is and what he can do.  Michael Ray is set to take country music on a hell of a ride.

Ray will be hitting the road hard this spring and summer in support his upcoming six-song EP, ‘Dive Bars & Broken Hearts’, arriving June 23 via Warner Music Nashville.  To date, Michael has charted four No. 1 singles with over 1 billion global streams and 150 million Youtube views.
