David Nail is certainly not an artist who really needs any introduction. Just one look at his incredible resume will show you an amazing list of memorable hit singles, including “Red Light,” Let It Rain,” “Whatever She’s Got,” “Night’s On Fire,” “Kiss You Tonight,” and more!

However, 2022 proved to be a monumental year of resurgence for the ultra-talented country music star.

Coupling with a CMA Fest appearance and his very well-received ‘Story To Tell’ headlining tour, “Sunset Carousel” and “Wherever You Are” gave us our first taste of the anticipated new music that he has been pouring his heart into writing.

Now with his newest release, “Best of Me,” Nail gives us what is his most personal song to date and a strong contender to top many wedding playlists this spring and summer.

“Remembering when, and how, I proposed to Catherine brings me back. Me and her parents were standing around the kitchen island when I just blurted out "I think we need to talk!" I still get chills thinking about those flashbacks, so I wrote a song about it,” Nail has already shared on his socials about the softer paced song as he wraps us right into the open conversation that he and his now father-in-law had on the day that he asked him for his daughter’s hand in marriage.

Using his purely gifted vocal to pull the proper emotional tugs, he takes us straight into the anxiety he’s experiencing on the drive over to her parent’s house that day, before he allows us to literally feel the shakiness in his hands during the conversation taking place between him and her father, as he punches the heartfelt chorus:

“I don’t have much money

And I don’t have a ring

But what I gots a whole lot better

Then all those fancy things

I swear to you I’ll love her

Until my dying day

I’ll give her the best of me

If you’ll give her away”

Continuing deeper into that conversation, David’s understandable nervousness radiates through his vocals as he admits to him in the second verse that he knows she’s his only daughter, while unselfishly showing a clear respect for her father and their relationship as he sings in the bridge:

“Sir, I sure hope that you approve

Cause I know there’s no other man, she’s loved more than you”

Whenever a songwriter takes something that’s so personal to them and puts it into song, there’s an honesty wrapped within the rawness of the entire delivery. But only the best of the best can take their story and craft it in such a relatable way that it instantly resonates through the speakers with the listener’s own story. David Nail has absolutely achieved that with “Best of Me.”
