Warner Music Nashville recording artist Jordyn Shellhart continues to build momentum and anticipation for the release of her upcoming major label debut record with her latest single.  “When Something’s Gotta Give” is available now on all streaming platforms now.

The new song is the third release off her upcoming debut album, ‘Primrose’, available everywhere on May 19th.  Co-written by Shellhart along with Marc Beeson and Allen Shamblin, the song showcases impeccably relatable songwriting and effortlessly beautiful vocals that are quickly becoming a trademark of this talented songstress’s music.

The lyrics are poetically crafted, offering the listener into the heart and mind of the songwriter on a personal level, something that a lot of songs strive for, but not many achieve with the emotional impact necessary for the influence intended of a song of heartbreak.

“I’m the tree and you’re the wind

I’m at your mercy

When something’s gotta give

It’s always me”

Further, what sets this song apart from most is the sense that there is no resolution at its conclusion.  While many releases offer a sense of “turning the corner” or “finding peace”, this song does not do that.  At the tune’s conclusion, Jordyn is still in the same situation as she was at the beginning, struggling through a relationship that is one-sided and emotionally toxic, but she cannot find a way out of it.

Unfortunately, this is a real-life circumstance for a lot of us, struggling to find a way to end a relationship we know we should not be in, but whether its fear or misguided persistence, we cannot take ourselves out of the situation.  This song’s lyrics will hit close to home for many, with a personal anecdote-filled message delivered through a somber melody and beautifully vulnerable vocals.

‘Primose’, produced by Cameron Jaymes, is comprised of 12 songs all written or co-written by Shellhart.  The Wyoming native made the move to Nashville at just 10 years old, and had signed a publishing deal at 14, followed by a record deal, Grand Ole Opry debut at 15 and a nationwide tour at 16.  Having garnered well-deserved recognition as a talented songwriter, penning tunes for Kelsea Ballerini, Cody Johnson, and Don Williams, as well as Little Big Town’s Grammy-nominated “Sugar Coat”, Jordyn is now set to show the world who she is as a recording artist.  With three release already harvesting high praise, the country music world cannot wait until May 19th.
