Coming off her third-place finish on American Idol, Gabby Barrett quickly burst onto the country music scene with her singles “I Hope” and “The Good Ones.” Both songs reached the #1 position on the Country Airplay chart, her debut album Goldmine has already been certified Gold by the RIAA, and she is now ready to unleash her next single, “Footprints On The Moon.”

Written by Barrett, Zach Kale, and Jon Nite, the third single lifted from her Goldmine album provides the much-needed encouragement that most people need – but never receive – when they are chasing their dreams.

Playing off the idea that you can accomplish anything since there are footprints on the moon, Barrett first reveals, though, a run-down of all the negatives that the voices will speak at you that can cloud up your optimism: that your dream is like Everest, that it’s impossible, that you’re too young (or too old), etc.

However, she punches home the motivation when you roll into the chorus, and she sings of needing to find that strength within to tell yourself to hang in there for just one more day! This motivation then continues throughout the remainder of the song.

Musically, “Footprints on the Moon” is a bit of a departure from her other singles as it leans much further into the pop realm, but also into a killer electric guitar solo that pushes you into the bridge and feels like it’s straight out of an arena rock song.

Singles generally take a good while to move up the charts and so that makes the summer release for this song perfect timing. Though it’s positive and uber motivational, the overall feel is much moodier than the onslaught of the feel-good, summer vibed tunes being released right now. That said, by the time “Footprints On The Moon” reaches its intended radio impact it should be the fall, which will help this one not be lost in the summer shuffle, but instead, quite possibly give Barrett her third #1 song in a row.
