Sparta, North Carolina native Reed Foley has released his brand new single, “Ain’t The First Time”.  The Heart Songs Records recording artist is setting himself up for a career-changing year, as this is already his second single release of 2023.

This is his follow-up tune to “Beer Needs Drinkin’”, which debuted at #78 on the MusicRow chart in January 2023.

“Ain’t The First Time” centers around a concept that is unfortunately common for millions of people across the country.  The tune tells the tale of a rough patch that has once again presented itself in a relationship.  As the story unfolds, we realize that this is not the first time trouble has occurred, but this may represent the final straw that ends things for good.

“Whether you were dating, engaged or married, I think a lot of people have had that relationship where you go through this intense break-up and then end up getting back together at least once,” Reed says.  “I know I’ve been in one of those and that was part of the inspiration for writing and recording this one”.

Resemblance to Chris Cagle’s “What Kind Of Gone”, this is a song about immediate regret, fear, and apprehension that this really could be the end of a relationship that the singer does not want to have happen.  Foley’s voice is solid, showcasing his powerful bravado complete with his southern drawl and intended emotional balance. It’s a catchy melody, complete with all the right hooks and beats, much to the delight of the toe-tappers and head-bobbers that we all are at some point.

Lyrically, this is a down-to-earth message with relatable passages.  It’s one that we will find ourselves listening to on repeat and to which we will quickly singing along.

“No this ain’t the first time

She walked out the door

Keys in hand, wedding band laying on the floor

Tearing down the drive like she ain’t coming back

No, this ain’t the first time

But I think it might be the last”

Reed is quickly cementing himself as one of the bright young talents in Music City, writing with some of the industry’s best, including Clay Mills, Terry McBride, and Brett Sheroky.  Having already amassed half a million streams across all platforms, the North Carolina native continues to gain momentum with every release.

In addition to his career aspirations as a singer-songwriter, Reed is also a dedicated and active philanthropist, hosting his own annual Toys for Tots campaign that has raised over $25,000 to date.  Foley has a stretch of dates schedule across Florida through April and May, with more to be expected in soon.
