For an up-and-coming country artist, one would think it could be career suicide to release a song called “The Worst Country Song Of All Time”.  Brantley Gilbert is far from an up-and-coming artist, though, with seven number one songs under his belt, and his new single with that aforementioned title may be number eight.

This tune will most likely not garner new droves of fans for Gilbert, but it plays perfectly into his niche and his existing fanbase.  It’s the in-your-face, unapologetic, brunt force delivery that Gilbert has become known for, captivating the thousands of hard rocking country loving fans that make up his sold-out concerts across the nation.  Adding country rocker HARDY and legend Toby Keith only makes this song even more of a show-stopper.

The undeniably original song title came about as a result of a question that Gilbert asked his fan base, a/k/a BG Nation via TikTok: “What is the worst country song of all time?”.  As expected, the response was immediately, garnering 500,000 views and initiating 7,500 responses.  The result a writing collaboration between Gilbert, HARDY, Hunter Phelps, and Will Weatherly.

With the country redneck love demonstrated through the reverse psychological theory of the worst aspects of “non-country living”, this song will undoubtedly be a BG Nation anthem for years to come:

“And the chorus goes

I love cities and traffic jams

I don’t want a house on a piece of land

I deserve a bunch of money and a minivan

But I don’t want to earn a dime

Old Yeller didn’t make me sad

I think we should change the American flag, yeah

This is the worst country song of all time”

The response to this song will be mixed, no doubt, but with Gilbert’s devoted followers and the track’s incredibly catchy hooks and phrases, it will be at the forefront of discussions for months to come.
