Phew!  Is it hot in here or is it just this song?!

Capitol Records recording artist and country music star Darius Rucker is back with a brand-new song, “Fires Don’t Start Themselves”, available via all outlets and streaming services now.

Written by Ben Hayslip, Dan Isbell and Jacob Rice, and produced by Dan Huff, the steamy new single is about spending quality alone time with the one you love and showing that person how much they mean to you.

There’s a sultry yet bluesy feel to the track, with just the right amounts of radio-friendly hooks to put the song over the top for a wide range of country music fans.  Reminiscent of a cross between Josh Turner’s “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and James Otto’s “Just Got Started Lovin’ You”, this song offers a personal effects of a romantic love song along with a catchy, toe-tapping beat.  Rucker’s vocals are classily delivered as always with his trademark bravado and gruff confidence, making this song yet another soon-to-be fan favorite.

“Girl, I wanna take my time, love you slow, love you right

Shadows dancing on the wall

Your lips, your hips, your fingertips, every inch of you just fits

Like the shirt that I got on, gonna love you, baby all night long”

“Fires Don’t Start Themselves” marks Rucker’s return to country radio and also serves as another preview of his upcoming album, ‘Carolyn’s Boy’.  It follows the recent hits “Same Beer Different Problem”, “Beers and Sunshine”, and “My Masterpiece”.

As expected, Darius is keeping busy this summer.  Following his four-day ‘Hootiefest:  The Big Splash’ event at Moon Palace in Riviera Cancun, Mexico with Hootie & The Blowfish, he will set up on a nationwide ‘Startin Fires’ tour, playing amphitheaters across the country through the summer and into the fall.
