Jillian Dawn is one of those “on the rise” singer/songwriters who has found her niche by placing her toes on several different genre lines and stretching their borders to create a resume chalk full of songs that keeps you guessing on which style she’ll lean more into each time out as she’s undeniably crafted a signature sound that clearly defines who she is as an artist.

She boldly stamped her name on the scene with the poetically written “Boston,” while her latest single “Watered Down” leaned strongly into the modern pop country realm, expertly solidifying herself as a virtuoso of different sonic sounds as her vocal know how properly carried the depth of each lyric.

She now continues to deliver her boundary pushing aura with her brand-new single, “Fear of Heights.”

Wrapping around a dusty, blues driven atmosphere that allows the pop laden melody to deliver a cool, vibey groove over the top of it, Jillian instantly gets your shoulders softly swaying as she injects the song with her insatiable vocal.

The opening verse sets the tone as it sees her breaking down her self-made walls when the right one arrives at her side “like a comet coming out of thin air,” as she lets go and let’s love take her somewhere new, somewhere different, and somewhere excitingly higher than she’s ever been.

The chorus then sees her lifting her powerful voice into its higher register to match the carefreeness of the feel-good lyric as she completely overcomes the fears that once held her back from falling in love, to arrive at the eureka moment in the hook when she excitedly declares, “I say goodbye to my fear of heights.”

Further praising how he’s changed her entire way of thinking throughout the remainder of song, she delivers cleverly written lines such as “something about this altitude is changing up my attitude,” “The atmosphere it feels so nice it feels so right to me,” etc.

Writing about falling in love when you least expect it while striking the different ways that It changes your entire way of thinking isn’t something new to country music, or to music in general. However, when you can craft such a familiar theme in a way that provides somethings fresh and different, that’s when you have something exciting for the new era fans to grab hold of.

Jillian Dawn masterfully does that in this pure spotlighting display of her artistry and craft, while proving yet again that in taking some risks, she’s quickly become one to watch because of her ability to think outside the normal comfort zones.
